Meet Lloyd Swartzendruber, our Director of Music, at First EPC. He and his wife Laura have been at First EPC for more than 35 years! His job entails reading, planning and choosing elements that draw people into a closer walk with and deeper awareness of God and the Body of Christ. Lloyd has a passion for incorporating people onto this ministry, training them and helping them to find their gifts.
Lloyd has a Bachelor of Music Education from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
He has been married to Laura for more than 42 years. They have 3 children. Nathan is a poet, Angela has a creative flair with fabric/paper, and their youngest is Rachel who teaches at Little School at First EPC. They also have 6 grandchildren.
Since marrying Laura, they have lived in Newfoundland, Canada and Washington D.C., besides here in Kokomo. He went to high school in Arkansas. He has traveled outside of the country to Canada, Holland, Kenya, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
A couple of random facts about Lloyd are that he knows all of the verses to more hymns than anyone you’ve ever known!!! And he LOVES to eat Brussels sprouts as a bedtime snack.
He enjoys singing, hiking, kayaking, camping, fishing, reading, creating/playing music. His favorite music is Folk music, Choral music, A Capella music, classical music, hymns and spirituals.
