Music Ministry

Westminster Handbell Choir (WHBC) is a musical ensemble of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church with a playing history of over 40 years.  It was begun with memorial funds in 1975 with the purchase of 4 octaves of Malmark Handbells, a set that has been expanded on over the years until reaching its current size of 5 octaves of handbells and 6 octaves of Malmark Choirchimes in 2003.  A vigorous and talented group of adults young and old work together in weekly rehearsals during the school year to master a variety of repertoire.  They add to our worship services once a month with hymn arrangements, original compositions and hymn and worship song accompaniments.  They are a mainstay of First EPC Christmas Eve services.  They also take to the road whenever possible playing programs at senior residences, at the Mall and wherever a bright and cheerful testimony of faith and joy is welcomed.

  •    Rehearsals are held in the Sanctuary each Thursday from 6:15-7:30 pm.

First EPC’s Chancel Choir serves at the heart of musical leadership each Sunday of the school year providing an anthem in varying styles with a focus of praise, prayer or admonition at our 11 o’clock service.  Vocal training is available to all choir members to aid in expressive singing.

  •    Rehearsals are held from 7:30-9 pm each Thursday ending in a time of sharing and prayer.

The Worship Team is comprised of instrumentalists and vocalists devoted to leading congregational song.  We are of diverse age and skills but one in purpose: to shine a light of honor and love on our great triune God.

  •    Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:15.

First EPC Kids Choir meets on Wednesday afternoons from 5:30-6 to train our elementary age children grades 3-6 in the art of making music for the King of kings.
